As a GTA and current Graduate Representative, I am always working hard to stay up to date with everything the Department needs.  This is no exception with my courses. I am always moving up and improving on the areas I know my students need most help in.  Through the two semesters in which I have been able to recollect feedback through COEs (Professor Evaluation Survey), some of the words which mostly stood out in my strengths were:

Dynamic

Passionate

Caring

Prepared

Loving

Compassionate

Alert

Responsible

Through my years in the program, I have had many opportunities to work alongside many people in my Department.  Alongside personal interest, I have broadened my horizon into many fields of English Education. Between the many things I have worked with, the biggest implement in my MAEE career has been becoming Graduate Representative for the English Department.  Through my work as Grad Rep for the department, I have been hard at work into creating a positive and open communication between the students and the faculty.  Each month, I share a meeting with the English Department faculty, the Graduate Committee, and the graduate students. All information presented in which I feel is valuable for the graduate students to know, I bring to the meetings. This also goes for the faculty, any information and worries the graduate students I will bring to the faculty. As well as this, the students asked to create a Facebook group for MAEE students where there would be no faculty. Because TAs who have finished UTD, and any non-TA MAEE student is not allowed on the official UTD page, this page bring a space for all of us to communicate.

Other than my work as Graduate Representative, I have had the opportunity to present in two Popular Culture conferences: the PCA/ACA 2016 National Conference in Seattle, Washington, and the PCSA 2016 Conference in the UPRM. I have worked as an Editorial Assistant for the a/b: Auto/Biography Studies journal.  I am currently working Dr. Ricia Chansky on some publicacions on autoethography in teacher preparation and curricular policy in Brazil.

Through my time as a graduate student, I have looked to expand my horizon in learning through outside sources.  With the opportunities presented to me, I have been able to join a couple of associations to grow in my professional career.  I am currently a member of PRTESOL in the Western Chapter.  I have gone to conferences in the island and connect with many teachers primarily from the Western part of the island.  I am also a member of the Popular Culture Student Association, where I presented in a panel alongside Prof. Gabriel Romaguera and Prof. Edward Contreras. For the PCA/ACA National Conference, I, alongside a group of students, traveled to Seattle, Washington.  During the conference, I presented on the Out Loud! Festival, an Advance English Festival where students are able to share creative or academic projects in which they create re-designed versions of texts, promoting the use of critical thinking in the classroom.
